Snow Angels in Port Hope

The Snow Angels program is a free snow removal service in Port Hope for low income seniors 65 or older, or residents with physical disabilities.

The Port Hope office of Community Care Northumberland takes applications from residents and, after establishing their eligibility, matches the residents with volunteer Snow Angels. After a snow fall and after residential streets are plowed, volunteers will visit their match within 24 hours to clear the sidewalk (if applicable), and any walkway or driveway that has been agreed upon between the resident and the Snow Angel.

The Snow Angels program contributes to the overall well-being of our community. It gives eligible residents peace of mind knowing that they don’t have to worry about snow removal. Volunteering for the program is not only the neighbourly thing to do its also a way for families to volunteer together. For high school students (minimum age 14) it’s an opportunity to complete their 40-hour community service requirement. It’s also an excellent opportunity to get some exercise! As long as you are fit and able, age is not a restriction.
